Thomas C. DeLoach Jr. received his bachelor’s degree with honor in chemical engineering in 1969 from Georgia Tech and joined Mobil Oil Corporation at its Beaumont, Texas Refinery.
DeLoach progressed through a number of various positions in manufacturing, planning and supply to become Manager of Crude Oil Supply for U.S. Marketing and Refining in 1980. In 1981, he was the liaison with Mobil’s diversified businesses: Montgomery Ward, Container Corporation and W.F. Hall Printing Company. He was named Vice President, U.S. Supply in 1984; and in 1986, he was appointed Vice President and General Manager, U.S. Marketing. DeLoach was elected as Vice President of Corporate Planning and Economics for Mobil Corporation in 1990 and the following year, elected to the Mobil Oil Board of Directors and named Vice President of Worldwide Supply and Trading. In 1993, DeLoach was named Executive Vice President in charge of International Marketing and Refining. In 1994, DeLoach was appointed Chief Financial Officer for Mobil Corporation. In 1998, he became President of Global Midstream, which included global hydrocarbon supply and trading, marine operations, Middle East relationships and worldwide natural gas sales and marketing. From 1993 until his retirement in 2000, he was also the worldwide coordinator of Mobil’s Motorsports program.
Racing had worked its way into DeLoach’s heart. From 2000 to 2003, he was a partner and later a consultant with Penske Racing’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series teams. In 2001 DeLoach and his partners formed Pit Instruction and Training (PIT), which later acquired another pit crew training company called 5 Off 5 On Race Team Performance. With an interest in team ownership, DeLoach got the opportunity to buy into an existing team, CleanLine Motorsports in 2005 and changed its name to Red Horse Racing. By season’s end, one of the owners bowed out therefore allowing DeLoach to acquire his share. Over the course of 12 seasons in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, drivers such as Brandon Whitt, David Starr, David Green, Jason Leffler, Aaron Fike, Johnny Benson, Timothy Peters, Justin Lofton, Miguel Paludo, T.J. Bell, John King, Parker Kligerman, Todd Bodine, German Quiroga, Ben Kennedy, Matt Tifft, and Brett Moffitt have been behind the wheel of a Red Horse Racing machine. DeLoach has celebrated in victory lane 16 times with seven different drivers over 12 years of competition in the NCWTS.
DeLoach’s other business activities include serving as Director for Liberty Property Trust (LRY) and as Director and non-executive Chairman of the Board for Asbury Automotive Group (ABG).
