David Starr on racing at California:

“California has always been a great track for me and it is such a fun place to race.  I should have won the race back in 2005 as we led a lot of laps and probably had the best truck there – but I got the air taken off the rear of my truck and just lost it.   The guys on this Red Horse Racing team prepare me great Toyota Tundras each week and it really shows in these first two races at Daytona and California.  When the green flag drops on Saturday in California you run hard for 100 laps around the big fast track and that makes it such a fun place to race.”

David Starr on Season Opener in Daytona:

David Starr and his Red Horse Racing showed persistence and never gave up on their way to a fourth place finish last week in Daytona.

“Good job JJ (Jamie Jones) and all of you guys,” said Starr after the race.  “I am happy with that finish; no one on this team gave up tonight.  We struggled early on in the race and we just kept working on it.  This really shows how strong this team is.  We were probably lucky in some respects that we struggled early on as that seemed to keep us clear of the two big wrecks out there tonight.  But we just kept working on it and our Toyota Tundra was real good there at the end of the race.  Tonight it all worked out for us and this is a good start to the year.”

“It really feels like I came home.  When I found out late in the season last year that I was coming back to this Red Horse Racing team and Toyota, I couldn’t believe it.  Working for Tom DeLoach and Jeff Hammond (Team Owners) and Jamie Jones (Crew Chief) is so much fun, and the guys on this team are some of the hardest working guys in racing.  They showed last year that they can put a top-10 truck on the track every race, no matter the driver, and I’m excited about that.” 

Red Horse Racing Remembers Fallen Teammate:

Red Horse Racing and David Starr mourn the loss of fallen teammate Cornell Speas.  Speas, who was the second hauler driver for the team during the 2007 season, suddenly passed away of an apparent heart attack at the age of 46 on February 7th.  A lifelong dream was fulfilled by team owner Tom DeLoach and crew chief Jamie Jones when they hired him to support team hauler driver Willie Divel.  Speas was laid to rest last Monday in his Red Horse Racing shirt, hat and credential pass for the last race he attended for the team last November in Texas.  Starr and his Red Horse Racing team will honor Cornell during the 2008 season with their thoughts and prayers as well as a memorial sticker adorning the b-post of their No. 11 Toyota Tundra.

David Starr will be making his 11th career NCTS start at California.  He has three top-5 finishes to his credit in the previous ten starts with a best effort of fourth in the 2004 event.  His best start at the speedway was from the pole in the 2002 season.
