A.J. Russell 

A.J. Russell was born and raised in Clovis, California, and began racing at the age of 7 in quarter midgets. Off to a fast start, A.J. set over seven track records and multiple feature wins in his rookie year, giving him championship and "Rookie of the Year" honors.

A.J. continued in all divisions of quarter midgets to the age of 12 where he moved his racing onto the dirt tracks of California and Arizona stacking up multiple wins and a championship.

At age 15, A.J. entered the California Asphalt Trucks series where he won features that gave him "Rookie of the Year." When A.J. turned 17, he left the California Asphalt Truck Series and moved into the 360 SuperModifieds and won features to give him an additional "Rookie of The Year" award. The next year, he furthered his career by moving into the Davey Hamilton 410 SuperModified series winning his first feature as a rookie and finishing third in the championship with "Rookie of the Year" honors.

Leaving the SuperModified league with his suitcase in his hand, he moved to Indianapolis, Indiana, where he raced in the Indy Pro Series and did intensive testing. In 2007, A.J. took his 410 SuperModified to Charlotte, North Carolina, for the East vs. West SuperModified Championships. A.J. started 15th in a field of more than 35 cars and fought his way to the front to be the 2007 East vs. West Champion.

In January of 2008 A.J. moved to Charlotte, North Carolina where he joined the Red Horse Racing family to start his career as the first Native American in one of NASCAR's top three elite series.
