David Starr and the No. 11 Red Horse Racing team motored into the Irish Hills of Michigan Saturday afternoon for the running of the Cool City Customs 200 at Michigan International Speedway, but left with a disappointing 26th place finish. Throughout the 100-lap event, Starr had numerous track bar and air pressure adjustments made to his Tundra, but never clicked on the right combination.
"Our No. 11 Red Horse Racing Toyota Tundra just wasn't very good this afternoon," said Starr. "My truck was loose, very loose the whole race. It didn't seem like anything could help our truck. It is just very disappointing to have another week like this. It wasn't a lack of effort, because Jamie Jones and my crew worked hard to get this truck ready. We made numerous adjustments during the race, but it just didn't seem to make any change in the way that the truck drove. We just were not very good today."
Starr, a native of Houston, Texas, did what he could to work with the coil-bind setup, but was unable to run wide open around the 2-mile D-shaped oval. From the very beginning of the race, Starr fought a loose condition in his Toyota Tundra that relinquished him to another disappointing finish.
"My truck was very free from the beginning of the race and it stayed with me all race," Starr said. "I didn't have any side bite from the center and coming off the corner. My truck wouldn't allow me to stay in the gas like I needed to, to run wide open like the majority of the field was doing. Overall, it was not a good race for my team and we will head to Milwaukee and see what we can do."
With the one-lap down finish, Starr dropped two spots to the twelfth position in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series championship point standings. Starr is 40 points behind Erik Darnell for tenth and just 119 points behind Chad McCumbee for the fifth position.
This Friday, June 20, Starr and his No. 11 Red Horse Racing Toyota Tundra team will head to the oldest active track in the world for the one day show at The Milwaukee Mile. The green flag will drop at America's Legendary Oval just shortly after 9 P.M. Eastern. SPEED will have live coverage of the 200-lap event, starting at 8:30 P.M. Eastern. Select affiliates of MRN Radio and Sirius NASCAR Radio Channel 128 will also have the live radio broadcast.
