David Starr - No. 11 Red Horse Racing Toyota Tundra
Round 12 of 25 - Memphis Motorsports Park: O'Reilly Auto Parts 200
Starr on Memphis Motorsports Park:
"Memphis Motorsports Park is a really special place. It is a very unique racetrack that has many unusual characteristics, but personally I love it and MMP is a fun track to race at. I love the layout of Memphis and it always provides great side-by-side short track racing. Every year when we go to Memphis, there is always a big fan turnout with standing room only, which is really exciting to see. The fans in Memphis lay out the red carpet when the Truck Series comes to town. They are so passionate and hungry for racing, which makes us drivers want to put on the best racing possible for them. My team, Red Horse Racing won the 2005 Memphis race, which is encouraging heading into this weekend. We ran decent when I was with Red Horse in 2006, so I have high hopes for this weekend's race. Memphis is just a really cool place to race at."
Starr on Racing at Night:
"When the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series races at night under the lights, it is just magical. All NCTS racing is exciting, but when we race at night, it is on another level. Night racing brings a different atmosphere, not only for the drivers but for the fans. It is a great experience for everyone involved. For me, it really takes me back to my roots where I really learned how to race at local short tracks in my home state of Texas. I grew up racing on Saturday nights, so to be able to do it now in the Truck Series is just a dream come true."
Starr on Red Horse Racing's 2005 Memphis Victory and short-track program:
"My team and I have a lot of confidence heading into Memphis this weekend. Over the past few weeks, we have not had the best races but since the team won in 2005 at Memphis, we are all excited to go racing this weekend. My crew chief Jamie Jones and all of the guys on my team are working very hard and our short-track program is awesome. It is a big honor for me to drive one of their short track trucks. My Toyota Tundra team is working hard to get our mile and a half program to the next level, but we really shine on short tracks, so we are looking to do just that this weekend. To come to a track that has provided so much success for Red Horse Racing is just incredible and we will be looking to get our first win of the 2008 season this Saturday night."
Starr on making his annual trip to Graceland:
"Every year when we head to Memphis, I always make a stop at Graceland, the Home of Elvis Presley. It is really cool to be able to race on Saturday night at Memphis and then the next day, head to Graceland. Usually I race really well at Memphis, so I am in a great mood when I'm at Graceland. Hopefully that will be the case this year. I am just a huge fan of Elvis' music and it is awesome to be able to reflect on his life every time I'm there. I always have a great time and I can't wait to go back again."
Starr on Memphis' trophy, a statue of Elvis Presley:
"The trophy of Elvis Presley is really cool. Every time I go into my bosses' office, I see Elvis sitting on his desk. Red Horse Racing was able to win the very first Elvis Presley trophy and it is such an honor to be a part of a team that has that type of success. I hope to add another Elvis to the collection this weekend and I would love to have one in my house in Texas. It is an extremely special trophy and it would mean a lot to be able to win one."
Round Five for Memphis Chassis:
Crew chief Jamie Jones has chosen TRD 103 for this Saturday's race at Memphis Motorsports Park. This will be the fifth time that Starr has driven this chassis in the 2008 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season, as he has raced it at Auto Club Speedway (California), Atlanta Motor Speedway, Dover International Speedway, and Michigan International Speedway. Starr steered this truck to a 13th-place finish at California, 21st-place finish at Atlanta, 6th-place finish at Dover, and 26th-place finish two weeks ago at Michigan.
David's Memphis Stats:
