STARR ON KENTUCKY SPEEDWAY: "I love Kentucky Speedway. The track reminds me a lot of Kansas. I had an awesome truck when we raced in Kansas earlier this season before we got caught up in a wreck with 45 laps to go. It was really unfortunate because we had such a good truck during the race and I thought we were going to get at least a top-three finish. But looking to Kentucky, it is always a lot of fun to race there. It is a really fast racetrack that has multiple racing grooves and plenty of room to save your truck if you get sideways. And the race fans in Kentucky are always great and love when the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series comes to town."
STARR ON HIS/RED HORSE RACING'S PAST SUCCESS AT KENTUCKY: "We as a team are always confident heading to whatever racetrack that we are racing at. Red Horse Racing has had success at Kentucky the past few years and I have been fortunate to have success at the track, but I measure success by if I have won there or not. Since I have not won at Kentucky, I don't think that I have been completely successful. Hopefully this is our magical race, where we can capture our first win of the 2008 season. If we run decent at Kentucky, contend for the win, and continue our record of good finishes, it will be a great thing."
STARR ON HIS OFF-WEEKENDS SINCE MEMPHIS: "Over the past two off-weekends, I have done a lot of relaxing and working back home in Texas. Most of my time has been working on my David Starr Show car/Simulator business - just working on the cars, traveling to different appearances, and doing all of the things that I am unable to do when we are racing. Then during the Fourth of July weekend, I was able to go out on the lake with my family and friends, celebrating the holiday and doing a lot of resting and relaxing. Also this past week, I came to North Carolina and my team and I headed to Darlington for a two-day test. We just came off our seven-week stretch of the season and I really hated that it ended. I was really enjoying getting into the racing groove every week. As a racer, I absolutely love to race, and if it was up to me, our schedule in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series would be 30 races instead of 25. So, I am very excited about getting back to the racetrack and going racing again."
STARR ON LAST WEEK'S DARLINGTON RACEWAY TEST: "Last Wednesday and Thursday, my No. 11 Red Horse Racing Toyota Tundra team and I went testing at Darlington and I thought it was a great test. My crew chief Jamie Jones made a lot of different changes and we learned a lot of information as a team that will help us perform better when we get to the track. Any testing that takes place helps because we can always learn new information, especially since the NCTS is so competitive. Also, I am still trying to learn this new coil bind setup, so the more laps that I can make trying different combinations is always a plus. Overall, the test was very beneficial and we will take what we learned to Kentucky this weekend and hopefully be very competitive and run upfront the whole race."
STARR ON RED HORSE RACING'S FIRST-HALF PERFORMANCE: "My Red Horse Racing team has all of the characteristics of a championship caliber team. Our performance in the first-half of the season has just been ok though. We have had our shining moments, but we should have a couple of wins by this point. We have been in position, but unfortunate situations have occurred. We are a lot better than where we are in the points and we have a lot of high expectations for our team. Hopefully by the end of the season, we will be in the hunt for the championship and have at least a couple of wins under our belt. But so far our season has just been ok. We haven't been satisfied with our performance, because we are capable of so much more. We are all looking forward to the second-half of the season."
DEAR DIARY: Every month, Starr takes the time to write a "Driver Diary" for Frontstretch.com. Starr's diary allows the fans to have an inside look at his life on and off the track and he will continue to take his readers behind the scenes throughout the 2008 season. To read Starr's diary entries, go to www.frontstretch.com/dstarr.
KENTUCKY CHASSIS: Crew chief Jamie Jones has chosen TRD 110 for this Saturday's race at Kentucky. This Toyota Tundra is a brand new chassis in the Red Horse Racing stable and will see the track for the first time during practice on Friday afternoon.
STARR AT KENTUCKY: In six previous NCTS races at the 1.5-mile tri-oval, Starr has recorded one top-five finish, along with 4 top-10 finishes. Starr's best finish came in 2004 when he finished in the third position. He has completed ever lap of competition (904 of 904) and has an average finish of 9.3. Also, Red Horse Racing has finished in the top-10 the last two years at Kentucky (8th in 2006 with Starr and 5th in 2007).
