Starr Gallops to Consecutive Top-Five Finishes in Kentucky PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 21 July 2008
Heading into the Bluegrass State with momentum from their top-five finish in Memphis, David Starr and his No. 11 Red Horse Racing team continued their string of good results with another fifth place finish during Saturday's Built Ford Tough 225 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Kentucky Speedway. Despite qualifying seventeenth, Starr and the No. 11 Toyota Tundra team put forth tremendous effort throughout the 150-lap event, making all the right adjustments and calls on pit road, which allowed Starr to drive through the field and gallop to his fourth top-five finish of the 2008 season.

"I love Kentucky Speedway and this is a great facility for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series to race at," said Starr. "Tonight's race was very exciting not only for the teams and drivers but for the fans. My No. 11 Red Horse Racing team is just awesome. Tom DeLoach and Jeff Hammond, my owners, have a great race team and I could not be happier. My crew chief Jamie Jones made all the right adjustments and calls on pit road tonight, and my pit crew had great stops. We started seventeenth and were not very good at the beginning of the race, but every adjustment that Jamie made just made my Toyota Tundra come alive."

In the final laps of the race at the 1.5-mile tri-oval, Starr, a native of Houston, Texas, was looking to improve his position in the top-five, but fell short as Dennis Setzer was able to hold on to the fourth spot.

"I thought I was really going to be able to catch Dennis (Setzer), but every time that I got close to him, I would just lose the nose of my truck," Starr said. "I believe if I would have had a few more laps, I would have been able to make the pass. Overall, it is great to have another top-five finish and I could not be prouder of my Red Horse Racing team. We will be looking to keep our good finishes going as we head to ORP (O'Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis) next week. "

With the fifth top-ten finish of his career at Kentucky Speedway, Starr moved up one spot to the eleventh position in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series championship point standings. Starr is just 20 points behind Dennis Setzer for tenth and only 61 points behind Terry Cook for the seventh position.
