Hard Fought 16th-Place Finish for Starr at ORP PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 28 July 2008
David Starr and the No. 11 Red Horse Racing Toyota Tundra team looked to continue their recent run of good finishes, but came up short with a hard-fought 16th-place finish at O'Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis on Friday night. Starr brought his Tundra to the attention of his pit crew four times during the 200-lap race, making numerous track bar and air pressure adjustments, but none of the changes seemed to help the handling condition of the truck. Even though Starr was fighting tight conditions, the Houston, Texas, native was able to run in the top-20 for 160 laps and come home in the 16th position.

"Well, tonight was not very good at all for my Red Horse Racing team," stated Starr. "I just couldn't get my Tundra to rotate through the center of the corner. My crew made lots of adjustments and changes throughout the race, but nothing seemed to fix the problem. This is just very disappointing for my team. We usually have so much success at short tracks and I really thought we would have another top-five run here, but my truck was just a handful."

Despite the disappointment of the mid-pack finish, Starr was very proud of the effort that his Red Horse Racing team put forth at the 0.686-mile oval.

"Tonight's run was not because of a lack of effort though," Starr said. "My crew chief, Jamie Jones, and the rest of my guys on this team gave it all they had, but we just came up short. For some reason, we could not get our truck to turn in the center. We will head back to the shop, figure out why the adjustments didn't help, and then head to Nashville in a couple of weeks."

Although the No. 11 team didn't have the success they were searching for, David Starr broke into the top-ten, by picking up one position in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series championship point standings. Starr is just 38 points behind Jack Sprague for ninth and 97 points behind Erik Darnell for the seventh position.

David Starr and the No. 11 Red Horse Racing Toyota Tundra team will take a one-week break before heading to the `Music City' and returning to action at Nashville Superspeedway on Saturday, August 9. Starr will look to capture the custom-designed Gibson guitar trophy when the green flag drops on the Toyota Tundra 200 shortly after 7:30 P.M. Eastern. SPEED will have live broadcast coverage of the 150-lap event, starting at 7 P.M. Eastern. Select affiliates of MRN Radio, along with Sirius NASCAR Radio Channel 128 will also have the live radio broadcast.
